Winter is slowly but surely over and I'm certainly not alone when I say that I can hardly wait for summer. Not only because the days are getting warmer again, but also because the summer in Görlitz has so much to offer. As a student who has unfortunately only been able to take part in one corona-free semester so far, I have unfortunately never experienced the numerous activities that the city on the Neisse has to offer in the summer months. But hopefully that will change in 2022! In this article, I would like to give you a brief overview of all the great events that await us in the 2022 summer semester - stay tuned!

At the beginning of the lecture period, you can mark Monday and Wednesday in bold in your calendar again - it's mouse time! The student club had to take a forced winter break, but will be back in time for the start of the 2022 summer semester. I can hardly wait!

The MK student council is also busy planning events for the coming months, so be sure to keep your eyes and ears open so you don't miss anything.

But that's not all: in summer, the streets of Görlitz are a hive of activity and by the time May rolls around, there's a different event almost every week.

Görlitz focuses primarily on its strong cultural side - many musical and artistic events take place here. There is definitely something for everyone!

While enjoying a cool beer, you can enjoy a huge range of different genres, including rock, pop, classical, folk, jazz, Latin and much more.

6th Fête de la Musique

The Fête de la Musique is an international event that takes place on June 21 in numerous different countries and cities, where both amateur and professional musicians show their skills and perform free of charge in public places. In Görlitz, the whole thing was initiated by KuMa students, who have made it their goal to bring very different people together through music and to present Görlitz as a European and cultural city.

7th Coolinaria

From June 25 to 26, you can enjoy a variety of German and Polish culinary specialties on Postplatz. At the Wine- and FoodMarket you can taste your way through the huge range of typical regional food and drink from Brandenburg, Saxony and Poland and get in touch with the producers.

From 8 to 17 July, the exhibition of modern art will take place at various abandoned locations in the city, accompanied by a diverse supporting program including concerts, workshops and parties.

10th Lausitz Festival

The Lausitz Festival is a three-week cultural festival that takes place from August 25 throughout Lusatia, from Saxony to Brandenburg. You can expect more than 80 events, such as exhibitions, concerts, talks and theater performances. The central theme is to artistically address structural change in Lusatia.

11th Old Town Festival/Jakuby Festival

The Görlitz City Festival takes place on both the German and Polish sides from August 26 to 28. A large number of  restaurateurs, traders, musicians and showmen populate the old town and turn it into the pulse of Upper Lusatia, attracting people from many different regions. There are also several stages and fairground rides.

As you can see, there's a lot going on in Görliwood during the summer semester and I hope you're looking forward to the coming months as much as I am, when Görlitz finally gets the chance to show off its entire repertoire of concentrated culture again.
