Highly qualified specialists for companies in eastern Saxony

Bautzen Employment Agency and university reaffirm their collaboration by signing a cooperation agreement to keep young people in the region.

Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and the Bautzen Employment Agency are now working even more closely together to support prospective students, students and graduates in making a successful start to their careers. On January 24, 2023, Prof. Dr. Alexander Kratzsch, Rector of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, and Kathrin Groschwald, Chairwoman of the Management Board of the Bautzen Employment Agency, signed their cooperation agreement, thereby setting out the main focus of the collaboration.

Digitalization and decarbonization are changing the labour market. Occupations are changing or new ones are being created. Demographic developments will have an even greater impact on the labor market and companies' need for skilled workers in the future as the baby boomers retire.

"Our common goal is to keep young people here in the region, show them long-term career prospects and attract highly qualified specialists to the companies. The opportunities in the region are good!" says Kathrin Groschwald.
"We offer a large number of practice-oriented degree programs that are geared towards the current and, above all, future needs of the job market. Student success, the quality of degrees, a short duration of study and well-coordinated advisory services are a high priority for us. As a result, our drop-out rate is already significantly lower than at other universities," adds Prof. Dr. Alexander Kratzsch.

The employment agency and the university support young people throughout their studies, starting with orientation and continuing through to graduation and career entry. The employment agency offers regular consultation hours at the university locations in Zittau and Görlitz.

To help prospective students choose the right course of study, the Bautzen Employment Agency offers orientation and information events. To this end, they are on site at the "Open University Day" and the "University Information Days" at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. The next opportunity for this will be at the university information day on 25.03.2023 at both the Görlitz and Zittau campuses.

The Bautzen Employment Agency advises the academics of tomorrow on career choices, provides information about the job market, arranges jobs and supports the transition into working life. Should difficulties or problems nevertheless arise during studies in individual cases, the Bautzen Employment Agency provides advice on doubts and drop-outs. It provides information on alternative study and training options and helps with the search for a new study place or training position.

In addition, the Bautzen Employment Agency and the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences work closely together to recruit highly qualified specialists for new companies, particularly in the context of structural change in Lusatia.
