to be filled. The assignment is planned in all fields of action of ZukLOS, but especially in the Junior Academy Zittau with the DLR_School_Lab Hochschule Zittau/Görlitz. The duration of the volunteer year is one year.

ZukLOS focuses on the promotion of extracurricular STEM education at the university. It pursues the goal of establishing a region-wide future learning location. In cooperation with various regional stakeholders, several extracurricular STEM learning locations are being developed in order to strengthen extracurricular STEM education in Upper Lusatia and thus contribute to securing the next generation of skilled workers in the region in the long term. The HSZG focuses in particular on supporting young people who want to pass on their enthusiasm for technology and science to pupils in the region.

In cooperation with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Zittau, the Junior Academy Zittau with the DLR_School_Lab Hochschule Zittau/Görlitz is being set up and operated. Here, the fascinating world of research will be brought to life through experiments. Topics include aerospace,low-CO2 industrial processes, robotics, natural fibers and energy.

The following tasks await you:

  • Supporting the set-up and operation of the DLR_School_Lab Hochschule Zittau/Görlitz,
  • Preparation, implementation and follow-up of experiments,
  • Supervision of children and young people during their visit on site,
  • Guiding children and young people through the experiments,
  • Collaboration in the new and further development of experiments on the HSZG's main research areas,
  • Support with special events (e.g. school project days, MINT project weeks, children's academy).

You should have the following knowledge and skills

  • Successful school-leaving certificate,
  • Enthusiasm for science and technology (especially physics, computer science, chemistry and biology),
  • Technical and experimental expertise,
  • Open-mindedness, reliability, punctuality, independence,
  • creativity and innovativeness,
  • Enjoy working with children and young people and in a team,
  • Experience with MS Office (especially Word and PowerPoint) is an advantage.

Volunteers will take part in at least 25 training days per year and are entitled to 26 vacation days.
