At the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz (HSZG), Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, within the framework of the project "EdgeVision" funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), a position (40 hours/week) is available at the earliest possible date as a

Research Associate (m/f/d) - Reference: 52-2024 -EdgeVision ES -

to be filled for a limited period until 31.05.2026.

In combination with energy-efficient hardware modules, embedded and edge AI solutions offer a wide range of possibilities for the development of intelligent field devices and cyber-physical systems as well as in the field of wearables and AR/VR technologies. The aim of the project is to research and further develop new AI solutions in order to identify innovative application possibilities and test them in practical test samples in the field of embedded systems. The technical/scientific content consists of researching and developing the necessary AI methods and algorithms in order to realize the identified use cases and application requirements of the project partners. The planned energy efficiency of the AI methods developed should make a significant contribution to the technical realization of the examination patterns in the form of wearables or intelligent field devices. The job holder (m/f/d) will work on the following tasks in particular:

  • Investigations into existing AI frameworks,
  • Developing the requirements in cooperation with the project partners,
  • Research, development and further development of AI methods,
  • Provision of the researched and implemented AI set for the project partners,
  • Collaboration in the design of functional models and sample applications (AR devices, intelligent field devices),
  • Collaboration with project partners, participation in scientific exchange and discourse with industry and research partners,
  • Collaboration in the preparation and presentation of project reports and scientific contributions

 

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • University degree, preferably in the fields of electrical engineering, computer science or mechatronics,
  • specialist knowledge and experience in the field of embedded systems,
  • Experience in software development in C/C++ or other high-level languages,
  • Experience in the use of embedded development environments,
  • German and/or English spoken and written (B2), project language German,
  • confident appearance and communication skills.

The following are also desirable

  • experience
    • in the design and construction of functional models,
    • in the field of hardware-software co-design,
    • experience in project management
    • with common office software,
    • with AI frameworks.

The remuneration for tariff employees is up to EG 13 TV-L if the professional requirements are met. The 1st place of work is Zittau. A probationary period will be agreed.
