At the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, a part-time position (20 hours/week) is available for the research project "Thermochemical Hydrogen Compressors for Efficient Energy Systems (Hy Comp)" at the earliest possible date as a

 "Research assistant (m/f/d)

- Reference: 31_2024 -M-Hydrogen compressors -

to be filled for a limited period until 31.12.2025 .

The activities of the job holder include in particular work on the following research tasks:

  • Preparation of a study on available waste heat potentials in Upper Lusatia for the operation of thermal hydrogen compressors in companies in the region,
  • mathematical modeling of the heat transport between the waste heat source and the storage medium in the thermal compressor,
  • Implementation of supplementary numerical simulation calculations with Comsol Multiphysics for concept development,
  • Conducting accompanying experimental investigations in the thermodynamics and thermal engineering laboratory for selected heat transport phenomena,
  • Support in project management, preparation of reports and presentation of results.

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • Completed university degree in energy and environmental engineering, focus on renewable energy technology or thermal engineering,
  • Experience in mathematical modeling of components of thermal energy systems,
  • Experience in working in thermal engineering laboratories and in planning and carrying out experimental studies,
  • Experience in the field of numerical simulation of flow and heat transport processes (preferably with COMSOL Multiphysics),
  • Experience in the preparation of reports and presentations (R&D results).
