"Electrical power engineering" successfully completed

The third year of the part-time Bachelor's degree program received their diplomas and Bachelor's certificates.

On March 5, 2016, the time had finally come - after seven semesters of study, the students of the third year of the distance learning Bachelor's degree course in Electrical Power Engineering at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences were able to receive their diplomas and Bachelor's certificates. Our graduates, their families and employees from the university, the Dresden Chamber of Crafts (HWK), the Electrical Training and Technology Center Dresden (EBZ) and freelance lecturers and teaching staff from the course met at the Haus der Sächsischen Elektrohandwerke in Dresden for the ceremonial presentation of certificates. The journeyman's certificates were also presented and the award for the best journeyman of 2016 was presented by the head master of the Dresden Electrical Guild. Our graduates were "absolved" - to use the words of the trade - by the Rector of our university, Prof. Albrecht, the Managing Director of HWK Dresden, Dr. Brzezinski, and the Managing Director of EBZ, Mr. Franke.

The part-time Bachelor's degree course in Electrical Power Engineering is run by the university together with the Dresden Chamber of Crafts and Trades Business Academy (HWK) and the Electrical Training and Technology Center Dresden e.V. (EBZ). It lasts seven semesters and is linked to certain admission requirements. The attendance phases are mainly held at the Dresden location.

The participants began their studies in April 2012, earning a total of 180 ECTS credits and successfully completing them with the defense of their Bachelor's thesis. After all, it was important to reconcile the demanding part-time course with their own professional activities and often additional family commitments. The graduates benefited from extensive practical experience and often several years of professional experience in the field of electrical engineering - predominantly as a master craftsman or technician. The best graduate of the year was Mr. Andre Claus with an average grade of 1.5. In an engineering degree course, such a final grade is very positive.

Graduating as an engineer opens up new career prospects. In the course of demographic change, the university sees the qualification of professionals as an opportunity to meet the growing demand for engineers.
