This year's "Intercultural Study Week" in the Studium-fundamentale took place at the beginning of May. Students and lecturers from two Russian universities, St. Petersburg and Kostroma, took part.
Russian students from Kostroma State University (RUS) came to Zittau/Görlitz once again. German students from the Studium fundamentale have been taking part in an intercultural summer school in Kostroma for some time now. The program of events includes lectures, seminars for short papers and presentations, specialist work shadowing as well as regional studies tutorials and specialist excursions on site. It is also about a dialog across national borders; a dialog between students, lecturers and the interested public. In addition to promoting international academic mobility, it is also about familiarizing students with everyday life at the host universities in order to attract further foreign applicants.
An information meeting was held in Zittau with the Vice-Rector for Education and International Affairs, Prof. Dr. Christa M. Heidger. Lecturer Dr. Tamara Denisova conveyed greetings from the management of Kostroma State University. For more than eleven years, the two universities have maintained a diverse academic relationship as part of a university partnership. The continuation of joint cooperation in various areas was discussed, such as joint degree courses with double degrees, student exchanges during semesters abroad and in summer schools, as well as further academic cooperation in several areas, including "Interculturality" and the East-West working group "LABIK" (Laboratory for Intercultural Studies).
One lecturer and one student from the Saint Petersburg State Economic University (UNECON) (RUS) took part. Both also gave guest lectures in the Studium Fundamentale seminar "Interculturality". Later, the focus was on questions of further cooperation within LABIK.
An international seminar was held in Görlitz with students and lecturers from Germany, Poland, France and Russia. At the end, all students from Kostroma received the joint German-Russian study certificate.
In addition to the participation of Russian academics and students at the senior college in Görlitz, a tour of the new buildings on the campus in Zittau was also on the agenda.
Supported by the DAAD with funds from the Federal Foreign Office (AA).
