Teachers at the HSZG receive the HDS certificate from the Saxon University Didactics Center.
Good teaching is one of the core brands of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. This is reflected in innovative teaching concepts and the student-oriented further development of proven approaches as well as the so-called 'Shift from Teaching to Learning'.
The Saxon University Didactics Certificate Program of the Saxon University Didactics Centre (HDS) provides the framework for this. It consists of three modules and has a total scope of 240 work units. The aim of the programme is to increase the level of professionalization of teaching in Saxony by expanding participants' individual teaching skills in the areas of knowledge, professional values and the ability to act, while at the same time implementing a change of perspective in teaching.
In their project, the students work on a one-year self-selected study project as part of the BA Social Work course at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. To promote the students' volitional skills in particular, arrangements for self-directed, cooperative and reflective learning were developed, provided and reflected upon in the project work "between semesters".
Ms. Ahrens has also completed the HDS-plus certificate (330 AE). This is an extension of the HDS certificate. The aim of the extended certificate programme is to further increase the level of professionalization of Saxon teaching activities. The focus is on measures in the areas of continuity, exchange and transfer.
As part of HDS module 3, an innovative didactic concept was developed and tested for the technical thermodynamics course (basic module in STEM studies). The focus of the course is primarily on the development and expansion of application-related skills with regard to various thermodynamic relationships and the use of formulas and material value tables to determine specific characteristic values. Based on the Thermopr@ctice system, which was awarded the Saxon Teaching Prize 2018, the further development of this system for use in OPAL and using ONYX was tested, didactically interlinked in a meaningful way and the quality and breadth of the offerings increased.
Daniel Winkler developed a teaching-learning concept for the Manufacturing Management module in which teaching letters for lectures and seminars are offered on a weekly basis. Each teaching letter is completed with tasks to test understanding and develop skills. The answers are sent to the lecturer by e-mail. The lecturer evaluates them and gives the student constructive feedback. At the end of the semester, these solutions are compiled by the students as a learning portfolio to document and reflect on their learning as part of their examination performance.
