The Welcome Party for international students at the HSZG marked a successful start to the summer semester.
The International Welcome Party took place on March 19 in the DeziBar and offered new international students - especially from the Studienkolleg - a warm welcome in a convivial atmosphere. The event began at around 6 p.m. with a short welcome round between the HSZG staff and the new students to make initial contacts. A highlight of the evening was the slide show, which introduced Zittau and Görlitz - the two locations of the university - and presented valuable information and sights worth seeing in our region.
The physical well-being was well catered for: a rich buffet with vegetarian, vegan and halal-certified dishes, which was only opened after 7 pm in consideration of Ramadan, offered something for every taste. At the same time, a karaoke session started in the next room, which provided additional entertainment.
Over the course of the evening, the singing fun unexpectedly developed into an exuberant dance party in which the students enthusiastically joined in. This spontaneous change heightened the cheerful atmosphere and made the evening even more unforgettable. Not only did the students have great fun, but the lecturers and staff present were also infected by the enthusiasm.
Overall, the International Welcome Party helped to make it easier for international students to arrive and make new friends in a relaxed and entertaining environment.
A big thank you goes to all those involved in organizing the event, especially the former Vice-Rectorate Education and International Affairs and the International Office for their great support.
This event impressively demonstrated how important a warm welcome is for a successful start to your studies!
