At the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz, in the Department of Studies and International Affairs (DSI), a full-time position (40 hours/week) is available at the earliest possible date as

Head of International Office (m/f/d)
- Reference: 16-2025 DSI AL International -

initially limited until 25.10.2025. In the event that the post holder takes parental leave, a corresponding extension is planned.

Open to the world and internationally networked, the HSZG is involved in international partnerships for teaching and research, promotes cultural exchange and, as the academic center of Upper Lusatia, is committed to cross-border cooperation in the Neisse Euroregion. The International Office deals with all questions of internationalization and international cooperation at the university and acts as a link between the university management, faculties and other structural units. The position offers the opportunity to actively participate in the digital transformation as part of a team and to help realize ideas for reducing bureaucracy while maintaining legal certainty.

The Head of the International Office is responsible in particular for the following tasks

  • Close cooperation with the Vice-Rector Research, Transfer and Internationalization, support in the development of the HSZG's new internationalization strategy and participation in the HSZG's Internationalization Working Group,
  • Quality and process management, budget responsibility and conceptual development,
  • Maintenance and further development of international university relations and strengthening of the international profile as part of the university's internationalization strategy,
  • Erasmus university coordination and methodical support of mobility processes,
  • Implementation of the mandatory digitalization of the Erasmus+ programme,
  • Acquisition of third-party funds, project implementation and monitoring, accounting of third-party funds (Erasmus, DAAD),
  • Advice and administrative support for committees and university members on questions of international cooperation as well as national and international funding and cooperation programs and support in drafting contracts,
  • Cooperation with the relevant partners and institutions on conceptual and practical questions of international work (DAAD, Studentenwerk, city, district, SMWK, etc.).

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • Completed university degree with relevant reference to the above-mentioned field of activity,
  • professional experience in an international office or comparable institutions,
  • excellent English and German language skills (C1 CEFR) and communication skills,
  • experience in the administration of funds and the acquisition of third-party funds,
  • strategic thinking and service orientation,
  • intercultural skills,
  • communication skills, networking skills, ability to work in a team and organizational talent.

The following are also desirable

  • Organizational and negotiating skills, a sense of responsibility and initiative, high resilience,
  • personal and social skills commensurate with the responsibility profile and practical management experience,
  • own experience abroad,
  • Experience in the organization and design of business processes and structures of university administration,
  • knowledge of another foreign language.

Remuneration for tariff employees is paid up to pay group 11 TV-L if the professional and personal requirements are met. The 1st place of work is Zittau.
