2nd DHIK technical committee meeting for mechatronics

Representatives from eleven universities involved in mechatronics exchanged their experiences.

The annual working meeting of the universities involved in the mechatronics course took place at the beginning of this year at the Harz University of Applied Sciences in Wernigerode. Representatives from eleven universities involved in mechatronics exchanged their experiences and planned the coming year. Reports on the current status of the course were the main focus, as well as the planning of teaching exports. A special item on the agenda this year was the farewell to the previous mechatronics subject coordinator for the CDHAW, Prof. Jürgen Minuth, from Esslingen University of Applied Sciences and the election of a new subject coordinator. Prof. Minuth successfully managed the fate of the mechatronics course on the German side for eight years. The members of the Technical Committee thanked him for his work and wished their colleague every success in his new role. Prof. Frank Worlitz from the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences was unanimously elected as the new subject coordinator.

The multilateral CDHAW mechatronics double degree program has been running very successfully and stably for twelve years: on average, around 65 students are exchanged each year, spending six months at one of the partner universities and in industry to write their thesis.

The double degree program with Mexico was launched in 2013. The Mexican partner university is Tec de Monterrey (ITESM), which is based in Monterrey, but also has a further 30 campuses in Mexico. The program currently comprises six degree courses: electrical engineering, automotive engineering, information technology, mechanical engineering, mechatronics and industrial engineering. In Wernigerode, the program for the mechatronics course was discussed, in which the universities of Bochum, Esslingen, Harz, Zittau/Görlitz, Mannheim and Saarland are participating.

The German University Consortium for International Cooperation (DHIK) is an association of over 25 universities in Germany that primarily coordinates multilateral double degree cooperation with international partner universities. The Chinese German University of Applied Sciences (CDHAW) is a largely independent institution within Tongji University in Shanghai/China. The DHIK's partner universities participate in both subject-related and student exchanges as part of a double degree program, while the Mexican-German University Cooperation (mdhk) enables a double degree exchange between the private university ITESM in Mexico and the DHIK's partner universities.
