The ZUKUNFTSVISIONEN invite you to Görlitz again this year.
Once again this year, ZUKUNFTSVISIONEN is defying the severe restrictions imposed on art and culture by the pandemic. With "Ohne Gewähr - no guarantees " - the festival for contemporary arts, where the theme is almost the program under current conditions, celebrates its 15th anniversary from 20 - 29.08.2021!
As an indispensable annual highlight in the European city of Görlitz-Zgorzelec, the festival raises topical issues that concern us as a society: In a world characterized by contrasts, many things seem to be up in the air. A thousand possibilities, a thousand supposed truths, everything everywhere and at the same time. Everything can, nothing must. We don't want to commit ourselves, to remain noncommittal. How many unanswered questions can we deal with? What is the essence of the present? Has our world become too complex to give it order? The only certainty is that nothing is certain - everything is without guarantee.
"In this sense, I would understand the theme as an attempt to get a possible, new, utopian future or normality from the artists' designs. With suggestions and analyses of how one could productively survive in such a situation of limbo," says jury member and curatorial advisor Héctor Solari.
”The experienced jury selected sixteen works of art from over 500 international applications. Some of these will be exhibited in a former - almost forgotten - polytechnic center for VEB Wärmetechnik at Friedrich-Engels-Str. 54 in Weinhübel, not far from the Kühlhaus. In addition, one of the works will once again be on display at the Kaisertrutz Museum this year. Visitors to ZUKUNFTSVISIONEN will receive free admission to Kaisertrutz and, conversely, visitors to the museum will only pay half the admission price for ZUKUNFTSVISIONEN. One work of art will be particularly highlighted this year: Moritz Frei's light art work "I DON'T BELIEVE IN DINOSAURS" will be presented on the exterior façade of the old Vier-Jahreszeiten Hotel at the train station.
The festival from 20 - 29.08.2021 also offers a colorful supporting program of pop and discourse and has exciting lectures and interesting workshops as well as concerts and raves in store. Among others: the performance festival STRE!FEN, Cyrkus Görlitz, TONG, Moglii, Murat Önen, Reka Zalan and TanzTageGörlitz - no guarantee. The accompanying guided tours through the exhibition rooms are a special offer.
And a visit is also worthwhile for guests who don't have any profound questions about life at the moment, but simply want to enjoy art and culture to the full. The ZUKUNFTSVISIONEN team is already offering the opportunity to support the project via their crowdfunding campaign on Startnext with contributions from €5.
