Strong signal for the future of KIA studies
On March 27, 2025, the advisory board of the KIA training network met in the meeting room of WBG Zittau mbH. Representatives from the university, industry and chambers came together to discuss current developments in KIA studies and future prospects.
Rector Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexander Kratzsch welcomed the participants and emphasized the strategic importance of the training-integrated study model for the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. As part of the "University for Future" process, the link between research, practice and sustainable teaching is to be further strengthened. Future development is secured by the long-term support of the Free State.
During the meeting, three new members were officially appointed to the advisory board - an important addition to the expertise in the fields of metal, electrical and IT professions.
The meeting also focused on the positive development of the KIA program in recent years. The number of cooperating companies is growing steadily, and various new formats - such as podcasts, events to mark the start of studies or KIA success stories - are ensuring greater visibility and networking. An alumni meeting is also being planned to further intensify the relationships between the university, students and practice partners.
Another focus was on the international orientation. The aim is to attract more international students to study at KIA and to make it easier for them to join the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. Measures such as a stronger presence at the preparatory college, individual support and leisure activities should contribute to better integration.
In a final round of discussions, further ideas were put forward: from an information package for companies to increased public relations work and new courses with a higher proportion of practical work. The stronger regional networking of international students was also discussed.
The meeting showed once again: The KIA model offers great opportunities - for students, companies and the region. With fresh impetus and many concrete approaches, the training alliance is entering the next stage together.
Special thanks go to all participants for the committed and open exchange as well as for the diverse impulses that flow into the further development of the KIA study program.
A big thank you also goes to the WBG Zittau mbH for providing the representative meeting room and the pleasant atmosphere!
We look forward to further cooperation within the KIA training network!
