Study by the TRAWOS Institute at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences sheds light on women's perspectives on structural change
On behalf of Wirtschaftsregion Lausitz GmbH, the project Project F for Strength - Women as an Economic Factor of the TRAWOS Institute of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is investigating the perspectives of women on structural change in Lusatia. Based on existing studies and interviews, a summary of the initial situation and the measures required to make the region attractive for women was produced. Many women would like to stay in the region. They see advantages in Lusatia: plenty of room for their own ideas and personal development, sufficient space for children and family, an attractive environment, affordable rents and living costs. On the other hand, it is difficult to find a job that pays well and meets your qualifications and expectations. As a result, many women have to make compromises, such as traveling long distances to work.
The results of the study "Women as an economic factor for Lusatia" will be incorporated into the "Lusatia 2050 Development Strategy". This is currently being developed as part of the "Zukunftswerkstatt Lausitz" project. Heiko Jahn, Managing Director of the lead company Wirtschaftsregion Lausitz GmbH, says: "The development strategy is being compiled by around 60 Lusatians in a writing workshop. We attach great importance to different perspectives and are involving women and men from all over Lusatia and from various professions in this forward-looking regional work."
