Saxon consortium takes part in the nationwide competition "Innovationspreis Reallabore".
In January 2022, an overarching alliance of Saxon stakeholders submitted its concept to the nationwide competition "Innovationspreis Reallabore: Testräume für Innovation und Regulierung" of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) in the "Outlooks" category.
The concept of the partner institutions bundles the planned projects of the rural area of Upper Lusatia for decarbonized, highly efficient electrical energy supply and demand-oriented, autonomous mobility through the coupling of innovative technologies.

In addition to research institutions such as the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Chemnitz University of Technology, Dresden University of Technology, Fraunhofer IWU and the non-profit Research Association for Decentralized Energy Systems e.V., participating partner institutions include local municipalities and organizations from the district of Görlitz such as the Entwicklungsgesellschaft Niederschlesische Oberlausitz mbH and the Free State of Saxony as well as the Saxon Energy Agency - SAENA GmbH.

This is the second time that the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) has organized the nationwide competition "Innovation Award for Real-World Laboratories: Test Rooms for Innovation and Regulation" . By setting up real-world laboratories, the aim is to create stimuli for innovation and regulation for Germany as a location for innovation.
