A total of 31 graduates of the HSZG's Studienkolleg are delighted to have received their certificates, which entitle them to study at a German university.
"Man is what he should be as a human being only through education!" In line with this motto by Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, Ellen Leuschner invited the graduates of the HSZG's Studienkolleg to this year's award ceremony in the Bürgersaal of Zittau Town Hall on February 2.
The director of the Studienkolleg was clearly delighted when she welcomed the graduates and invited them to look back together on their time at the Studienkolleg: from the entrance test and the first few weeks, when many things seemed new and unclear, to the regular lessons and the final examinations. The time was challenging and characterized by major and minor hurdles, but also by many joint activities such as hiking days, a trip to ice skating and, of course, the student parties. The fact that hard work pays off alongside the celebrations can now be seen in the 31 graduates who have now received their FSP certificate and the 16 graduates who have received their DSH certificate, which entitles them to study at a German university.
The second deputy mayor of Zittau and city councillor Ute Wunderlich is also convinced of this. In her words of welcome, she emphasized that the students, who come from 14 different countries, are welcome here in Zittau and elsewhere in Germany and will remain here. She was particularly pleased that "many of the young people have decided to study at our HSZG."
Sophia Keil, Vice-Rector for Education and International Affairs, attended the graduation ceremony as a representative of the university management. She also congratulated the graduates and emphasized their importance for the German higher education landscape. With a quote from Nelson Mandela, she summarized what seems more important than ever in today's world: "Education is the most powerful weapon to change the world!"
Finally, Ellen Leuschner reported that "imparting knowledge is not a one-way street" before the certificates were ceremoniously presented. She, too, had been able to incorporate many a new German word into her vocabulary during their time learning together. The term "vegetarianer", which at first seemed strange but according to the Duden dictionary is actually correct, will enrich her vocabulary in the future.
Then came the big moment when the certificates were presented. A total of 31 graduates (12 female students and 19 male students) received an FSP certificate: 17 graduates were awarded the certificate for passing the FSP according to the requirements of the specialization course in economics (WW course), followed by 14 graduates who were delighted to receive the certificate for passing the FSP according to the requirements of the specialization course in technology (TI course). In addition, a total of 16 graduates (7 female and 9 male students) held a DSH certificate in their hands at the end.
The good mood during the ceremony, which was enriched by musical contributions on the piano by the Leipert family, was also shared by the chairman of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences support association, Mario Linack. He closed the ceremony with the words: "This is your day today!" and sent the graduates off into a promising future.

At the Studienkolleg, foreign applicants of different national origins, with different religious and political convictions and with different educational backgrounds are prepared together for the same goal: to study at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and delegating universities in Saxony.
