Medical law expert Prof. Erik Hahn in an interview with the SZ newspaper about mandatory coronavirus vaccination and privileges for vaccinated people.
Vaccinations against the coronavirus will soon be starting in the district of Görlitz. Erik Hahn, Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Industrial Engineering, gave an interview to the Sächsische Zeitung on the legal aspects of the coronavirus vaccination.
In it, he comments, among other things, on the likelihood of a possible compulsory vaccination. "In view of the fact that, according to current knowledge, the course of the disease depends heavily on age and any previous illnesses, at least on average, I consider compulsory vaccination to be inadmissible under the current legal situation," explains the medical law expert. In principle, he considers mandatory vaccination for certain groups of people to protect third parties to be conceivable. However, we will have to wait and see in the coming weeks to see whether vaccinations for the over-80s age group lead to a reduction in severe cases of the disease. "The willingness of these people to be vaccinated is also of central importance here," says Hahn.
Erik Hahn sees privileges for vaccinated people as a positive factor in the thawing of social life: "The decision to allow vaccinated people more freedom again as quickly as possible would indirectly help everyone else through the associated increase in consumption."
