Two teams from the Bachelor's degree program in International Business Communication voluntarily took part in the Online Marketing Challenge (OMC) 2023  of the Saxony Economic Development Corporation in the summer semester.

We are particularly pleased and proud that one team was able to win. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement!

But both teams are winners! Through the OMC, our students - all in their 2nd semester, by the way - were able to gain unique practical experience in a real business environment by designing and implementing digital marketing campaigns for Saxon companies from various industries - all with a budget of 500 euros.

How does the OMC work?

The OMC gave our students the opportunity to work in teams and design and implement an international online marketing campaign together with an SME. Over the course of three months - from April to June - the students took on the role of online marketing managers and implemented the campaign with a budget of 500 euros. Their goal was to achieve the marketing objectives set by the company and win the challenge. In addition to our teams, four teams of international Master's students from Leipzig University competed. In July, all teams met for the final event in Dresden to present their results in pitches, share their experiences and celebrate their successes together with the companies. Our teams were accompanied by our online marketing expert Sebastian Benad. The winning team was rewarded with a prize of 300 euros.

Why should I take part in the OMC?

Participating in the OMC offered our students more than just hands-on experience and a certificate. They participated in our Online Marketing Bootcamp, which offered specialized training and in-depth insights into the most relevant online marketing topics.

More benefits at a glance:

  • Participation in the online marketing bootcamp on digital marketing tools,
  • Practical experience in the implementation of real online marketing campaigns,
  • Support and feedback from experienced marketing coaches,
  • Building professional networks for the time after graduation,
  • Receiving a certificate issued by the University of Leipzig and the SEPT Competence Center, IOSax and signed by the partner company.

  • Kick-off event in Leipzig: April 12, 2023
  • Online bootcamps with five training sessions
    • International marketing
    • Advertising on Facebook & Instagram

How do you win the OMC?

All teams impressed the jury with outstanding pitches in English, in which they impressively presented their innovative marketing campaigns. Through their understanding of digital marketing and their creative approaches, most teams succeeded in achieving the marketing goals set for their companies.

In addition to achieving the campaign goals, the structured presentation of the strategy and the convincing presentation technique in the pitch were ultimately decisive for the victory of our student team. The basis for this was a deep understanding of the unique selling point of the product and the target group, coupled with a high level of motivation and disciplined commitment.
