Regional network for science, research and education founds Hi!Lusatia association.
On June 8, 2023, ten partners from the fields of teaching, research, business and society founded the Hi!Lusatia association at CELSIUZ, the Co-Creation Lab of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. The name Hi!Lusatia is made up of the English greeting "Hi!" and the Latin word for Lusatia and makes it clear that skilled workers are very welcome in Lusatia.
The founding members include the renowned educational institutions Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and the International University Institute (IHI) Zittau of Dresden University of Technology, major research institutes such as
as well as innovative, research-oriented employers such as Siemens Energy Global GmbH Co. KG and strategic partners from other areas of the economy and society such as Europastadt Görlitz-Zgorzelec GmbH and DDV Neiße GmbH.
Other interested parties, including the German Center for Astrophysics (DZA) and the Construction Future Lab (CFLab) gGmbH, have already expressed their intention to participate in the association.
Hi!Lusatia e.V. aims to promote the attractiveness and diversity of working, living, teaching and research in the three-country region of Germany/Poland/Czech Republic through joint initiatives and to actively participate in the future-oriented, sustainable transformation of the region. The focus is on promoting science, research and education.
Prof. Alexander Kratzsch, Rector of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, was elected Chairman of the Association's Board.
Sven Werner, Site Manager of Siemens Energy Global GmbH & Co. KG, and Prof. Thorsten Claus, Institute Director of IHI Zittau, will serve as deputy chairmen. The association will be based at Obermarkt 17 in Görlitz.
Hi!Lusatia is a regional network for science, research and education in Lusatia. The association strives to strengthen cooperation between educational institutions, research institutes, companies and society and to promote the development of the region. Hi!Lusatia focuses on promoting innovation, sustainability and interdisciplinary cooperation in order to position Lusatia as an attractive location for skilled workers.
