Together for digital education

The HSZG supports schools on their way to becoming a "Digital School Saxony". The second application round runs until the end of June 2024.

"Shaping the future, sharing knowledge: Together for digital education in Saxony!"

In March 2024, a total of 24 schools in Saxony were awarded the title "Digital School Saxony". As part of the initiative, the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences has taken over the network coordination for Eastern Saxony and thus the support of currently 10 schools in the school network of the "Digital School Saxony" initiative.

The aim of the "Digital School Saxony" initiative is to prepare young people for the challenges of an increasingly digitalized professional world at an early stage. By promoting IT skills and strengthening media education, new learning spaces are to be created and teachers supported. The award-winning network schools now receive support in the implementation of individual objectives through exchanges with other schools and the involvement of external stakeholders such as regional companies, universities and research institutions.

The following ten schools were honored on 13 March 2024 in the auditorium of the Görlitz campus of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences:

  • Diesterwegschule (Görlitz)
  • Schiller-Gymnasium Bautzen
  • Semper Secondary School (Dresden)
  • Friedrich Schleiermacher Grammar School Niesky
  • Elstra secondary school
  • Dr. Salvador Allende Secondary School Bautzen
  • Christoph Lüders Vocational School Center Görlitz
  • Geschwister Scholl" Grammar School Nossen
  • Dresden-Johannstadt grammar school
  • Carl Friedrich Gauss" Secondary School Pirna-Sonnenstein

The awards were presented to representatives of the schools by Mr. Mathias Peter from the State Office for Schools and Education and Dr. Jens Drummer from the Saxon State Ministry of Culture.

A highlight of the event was the presentation by Prof. Dr. Hofmann from the University of Leipzig on the topic of "M.I.T. schools in Saxony - from the idea to the network and label". In subsequent workshops, the network schools were able to get to know each other and exchange ideas.
