The HSZG at the integration fair

On March 6, the 1st integration fair of the district of Görlitz took place in the Löbauer exhibition hall.

Foreign student applicants

Under the motto "Living and arriving in the district of Görlitz", the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences was one of over 60 exhibitors at the 1st integration fair in the district of Görlitz.

New immigrants and/or volunteers and full-time employees from the field of migration were able to find out about leisure & clubs, offices & authorities, work & jobs, living & housing and education and network with representatives from these areas.

In the area of education, the Department of Studies and International Affairs provided information about study opportunities at our university and advised a large number of prospective students, including those from Poland, Syria and Iran, about admission requirements and the application process for foreign applicants.

Religion, migration and integration

The Institute for Transformation, Housing and Social Spatial Development (TRAWOS) also took part in the fair with an information stand on the institute's project Religion-sensitive integration culture in Eastern Saxony - exploration, testing, design under the motto "Religion as an integration resource?", which is funded by the Free State of Saxony as part of the state program Integrative Measures.  In addition to numerous networking discussions with other stakeholders on the exhibition grounds, interested parties were able to pick up literature recommendations on the topics of religion, migration and integration.

In addition to the information stands, there was a very interesting supporting program at the fair, in which the integration concept of the district of Görlitz and the project MiMi (with migrants for migrants)  were presented.

All in all, the integration fair was a very successful event, which was attended by an exceptionally large number of new immigrants to the district.

Outlook

A repeat of the fair seems conceivable. The district of Görlitz is currently reviewing the feedback forms from exhibitors and guests at the integration fair.

The MiMi project will soon be a guest at the university and offer a workshop for international students on the topic of "The healthcare system explained in the mother tongue".
