Dean's Counselor and Laboratory Manager (m/f/d) - Reference: 09-2025 EI-DR LL -

At the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, a position (40 hours/week) is available at the earliest possible date as

Dean's Council and Laboratory Manager (m/f/d)
- Reference: 09-2025 EI-DR LL -

to be filled for an indefinite period.

The position essentially comprises the following tasks:

  • Dean's Council with a scientific and electrical engineering profile, in particular

    Budget and contract responsibility within the scope of the responsibility assigned by the Dean, including:
    - budget planning,
    - monitoring of budgetary discipline (ordering, delivery, invoice processing, coordination of preliminary planning),
    - cooperation with the responsible departments of the HSZG and the users in the area,

  • Performing various committee work and participating in the Finance Commission,
  • Teaching assignment planning and accounting for the Electrical Engineering department, including management of teaching assignments/guest lectures and laboratory assignment planning,
  • Management of cooperation with Deutsche Bahn (largely independent coordination of content, finances and organization as well as preparation of contractual documents),
  • Public relations work of the Electrical Engineering department, in particular
    - coordination of central requirements,
    - conception of own activities of the Electrical Engineering department such as introduction days, laboratory tours for graduates and guests, student events,
    - development/updating of information material in paper form and electronic provision on the web,
    - maintaining and establishing contacts with sponsors, photographers,
    - cooperation with the responsible internal and external actors,
  • Performing assignments as:
    - KIA representative of the department to support the dual KIA study program of the HSZG and
    - safety officer of the electrical engineering department,
  • Organizational and subject-related support in the development and elaboration of scientific approaches for updating the strategy of the Department of Electrical Engineering, including the resulting implementation for the further development of the range of courses, currently in particular: significant support in the development and conception of a bilingual study program - German-Czech, including public relations work at the educational institutions in the Czech Republic, attracting companies to participate in the bilingual study program as well as planning and implementation of laboratory internships in English,
  • Responsibilities Laboratory manager
    - Independent development of concepts for laboratory expansion through to the construction of laboratory equipment in the fields of automation technology,
    electrical energy technology or mechatronics,
    - Responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the assigned laboratory areas,
    - Assuming responsibility for occupational health and safety on behalf of the dean (instructing the laboratory workshop staff/guiding and advising the laboratory engineers, monitoring and enforcing the safety regulations).

    - engineering tasks in the interests of the entire department (e.g. inventory responsibility, cooperation with the departmental staff).e.g. inventory responsibility, participation in public relations work, development, construction and implementation

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • Very good scientific university degree in the field of electrical engineering, automation technology or mechatronics,
  • several years of practical professional experience and university didactic knowledge in teaching and laboratory work for student training in this subject area,
  • Marketing affinity and experience in attracting students,
  • experience in establishing and maintaining business networks,
  • proven foreign language skills (at least B2) in English and Czech.
