Year 2010

June 23, 2010:
Joint excursion to the Technical University in Liberec. A lecture entitled "The relations between North Bohemia and Upper Lusatia in the Middle Ages" with lecturer Dr. Rudolf Andel, Liberec (left illus.) provided an overview of historical events. The encounter with museum exhibits in the North Bohemian Museum (right illus.) in the afternoon illustrated what had been heard.

2009

December 9, 2009:
Civic engagement honored - At the end of the semester, three active senior volunteers were thanked for their work at the university. Professor Rainer Hampel thanked Inge and Bernd Nowack (center) and Dipl.oec. Brigitte Nitsche (2nd from right) for their civic commitment. For almost ten years, they were actively involved in the working group for the Senior Citizens' College at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. Brigitte Nitsche came to the university on a job creation scheme (ABM) as part of a Zittau "EXPO 2000" project. She then worked at Studium fundamentale, under whose management the Seniorenkolleg was founded.

March 18, 2009:
Rector Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Rainer Hampel (m.), Dr.-Ing. Christian Müller (r.), Chairman of the Friends of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and Frank Schneider. At the start of the semester, Professor Hampel gave a lecture on "Nuclear energy yesterday and today".

February 18, 2009:
"Zweite Heimat Sachsen - Lebenswege deutscher Flüchtlinge und Vertriebener." A book presentation with short documentary film and discussion. The guest speaker was Heinz Drewniok, Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (r.). Also present: Karin Just-Hofmann (l.), Saxon State Center for Political Education and Sigrid Thiemann (m.), AK Seniorenkolleg.

December 17, 2008:
Lecture guest from the TU Liberec "The Germans in Czechoslovakia after the Second World War (expulsion, resettlement, reckoning...)".

July 2, 2008:
Joint excursion to Rietschen. On the subject of "Who's afraid of the evil wolf?", 30 participants from the colleges learned about the work of the "Wolfsregion Lausitz" contact office in Rietschen. On behalf of the contact office, nature guide Stephan Kaasche gave a talk on the subject in the "Wolfsscheune" (wolf barn) at the Erlichthofsiedlung. After visiting the exhibition there, a tour of the heathland and pond area at the Erlichthof and the Schrotholzhaussiedlung was undertaken.

April 16, 2008:

April 16, 2008:
Guest visit from the Senior Academy of the Lausitz University of Applied Sciences. As part of an excursion, the Lower Lusatians toured the city of Görlitz and paid a visit to the university in the afternoon. Image 1: Professor Friedrich Albrecht, Vice-Rector for Education, gave an overview of the course and the university location Zittau/Görlitz. Image 2: Dr. Wolfgang Friedrich in conversation with Professor Friedrich Albrecht and Frank Schneider. Image 3: During a tour of the campus, Frank Schneider presented the individual teaching buildings. Image 4: Students on the Communication Psychology course surprised everyone with a cake bazaar, the proceeds of which will be donated to an orphanage project in Sri Lanka.

Year 2007

May 16, 2007:
Some of the senior college students chose to visit Zittauer Kunststoff GmbH. As part of the joint excursion "Plastics processing and surface technology in Zittau", two other innovative technology-oriented companies were visited by the students at the same time.

May 9, 2007:
The Seniorenkolleg honored Europe Day 2007 with a lecture on "European policy today and the reasons why some countries voted no to the EU constitution". The speaker was Jakob Lempp M.A., TU Dresden.

Year 2006

October 25, 2006:
"Global climate change and worldwide energy requirements" an engaging lecture by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Bernd Delakowitz, Department of Mathematics / Natural Sciences. The lecture took place in the new lecture hall building, which is now also used by the Seniorenkolleg.

July 5, 2006:
Excursion "Lusatian glass - past and present". Introduction to the topic at the Weißwasser Glass Museum. Afterwards, Dr. Olaf Seidel welcomed the participants to a factory tour at the glass manufacturer Stölzle Lausitz GmbH Weißwasser

June 10, 2006:
Students of the Seniorenkolleg take part in the Oberlausitz excursion "In search of historical traces in the Oberlausitzer Gefilde" (excursion of the Regionalgeschichtliches Kolleg). Year 2003

History of technology live at the Saxon Industrial Museum Chemnitz. One of the two groups of students attending the "History of Technology and Science" lecture during the introductory lecture in the exhibition hall. The excursion took over 40 technology enthusiasts to Chemnitz on November 13, 2003.

"Will start-ups save Lusatia as a business location?" was the title of the lecture at the opening of the semester of the SeniorenKolleg on October 15, 2003 in Zittau. The guest speaker was Prof. Dr.-Ing. Manfred Bornmann, honorary professor for business start-ups, Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (FH).

Year 2002

Lecture event on October 30, 2002 with the head of S-Direct of Kreissparkasse Löbau-Zittau, Mr. Andre Tronicher (m. l.), on the subject of "Online Banking".

At the start of the winter semester on October 9 , 2002, students of the SeniorenKolleg will discuss the law on guardianship with Professor Thomas Eissing.

Professor Jutta Blin (h. m.), Vice-Rector for Education, at the opening of the SenoirenKolleg in Görlitz in the summer semester 2002. The first lecture was given by Dipl.-Ing. Manfred Kramer (h. l.).

Model making workshop: On February 27, 2002, the SeniorenKolleg visited master model builder Jens Freudenberg (right) to find out more about architectural training at the university.

Year 2001

Modern communication using personal computers and the Internet was the topic of a meeting of the SeniorenKolleg in Görlitz on December 12, 2001 in a PC pool of the Department of Computer Science. 

SeniorenKolleg explores the Internet: Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Gabriele Girle from the Department of Computer Science gives tips and advice on the PC.

Opening event of the SeniorenKolleg winter semester 2001/02 on November 28, 2001 in Zittau: guest speaker Christa Lörcher, Member of the Bundestag, talks about "The future of nursing care".
