The university's first summer school in Vietnam: ten female students flew to Thanh Hoa University.
The university's first summer school, funded by the DAAD, took place in Thanh Hoa, Vietnam, from March 19 to March 27, 2019. The project was initiated and carried out by the Bachelor's degree programme in Tourism Management and International Tourism Management at the Faculty of Management and Cultural Studies with the aim of increasing the internationalization of teaching.
The activities are part of a comprehensive strategy developed in 2017/18 by project team member Eva Pretzsch.
From a fact-finding mission to the implementation of two summer schools, this strategy pursues the long-term goal of a five-year cooperation agreement between the two universities (Hong Duc University and HSZG). Ms. Langschwager, Prof. Pflicke and Ms. Pretzsch flew to Thanh Hoa University with ten students from both courses, who were successful in an application process, to work together with the Vietnamese students on the topic of "Community Based Tourism" using the destination SAPA as a case study.
The following summary film by our Vietnamese colleague Mr. Hoang shows how successful the project was.
The summer school will continue in Görlitz in October. We will then welcome our Vietnamese colleagues and students to continue the research on the above-mentioned topic together.
We are very much looking forward to this and hope that the summer school in Görlitz in the fall will be interdisciplinary and cross-faculty!
