Workshop discussions in the university's laboratories

Business representatives met with university lecturers in the laboratories of the HSZG to exchange ideas.

The research activities of the HSZG are diverse and extensive - the spectrum of topics ranges from energy technology problems to modern material developments and social transformation processes.

As a university of applied sciences, our aim is to ensure the transfer of knowledge and to use the results of our research activities to develop the region's economic power. To support cooperation with local companies, the "Workshop Talks" format was developed together with the Dresden Chamber of Crafts (HWK) and the Dresden Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Zittau office, to initiate discussions between business and science and promote the exchange of expertise.

The second event in this series took place at the end of April and brought together 20 company representatives from the region and seven KIA web students (

to discuss the topic of "automation technology" with professors from the Institute of Process Engineering, Process Automation and Measurement Technology (IPM). Unternehmer und KIA-Studierende im Austausch mit mit Professoren des IPM

In the Zittauer Kraftwerkslabor (ZKWL) - the largest research complex of the IPM, housed in a hall of the Zittauer Stadtwerke - the three test stands were presented: The Thermochemical Test Field I (Prof. Zschunke), the Magnetic Bearing Test Facility (Prof. Worlitz) and the Thermal Energy Storage Facility (Prof. Kratzsch and Prof. Kästner). The new facilities built in recent years will enable research in key areas of the "Energy and Environment" focus: Increasing the efficiency of centralized and decentralized power generators with the help of storage systems as well as increasing the performance of large storage facilities using magnetic storage technology. The presentations and direct discussions illustrated the possibilities of the ZKWL and discussed initial starting points for concrete collaborations.

And you should already make a note of this date: The series of events will continue on October 14, 2015 on the topic of "Plastics".
