At a kick-off event in Leipzig, the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism (SMWK) presented the agenda for the strategic development of Saxony's scientific landscape up to 2030.
In the coming years, Saxony's scientific landscape will take the next major development steps. With the SPIN2030 agenda, the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism (SMWK) is supporting the universities and research institutions on this path and setting the course for the strategic further development of research and teaching in the Free State of Saxony until 2030.
At a kick-off event on February 3, 2023, Minister President Michael Kretschmer and Minister of State Sebastian Gemkow presented the agenda for Saxony as a land of science. Saxony will invest at least 17 billion euros in Saxony's science landscape by 2030. These have always been the largest investments in Saxon science. In this way, Saxony's leading position in research can be secured and expanded in the long term. The state government is thus giving clear priority to science, universities and research.
Afterwards, selected exhibitors from all over the Free State presented interesting scientific developments at a science fair in the Congress Hall at Leipzig Zoo.

The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences presented itself on site with the four other Saxon universities of applied sciences at a large joint stand of the joint project "Saxony5". While the Saxony5 team thematically addressed the questions of what knowledge and technology transfer is and why it is needed, the Saxon universities of applied sciences presented selected projects from their research and transfer activities.
With the "Climate Market" exhibit , the "SME Climate Deal" project illustrates how life cycle assessments help to make environmentally friendly purchasing decisions. The issue of climate protection is becoming increasingly important and consumers have a choice when purchasing products, but at the latest when they reach the shelf they ask themselves: "How do I know what is more climate-friendly? Is a climate-neutral product really more environmentally friendly?" In order to answer these questions, life cycle assessments, carbon footprints and numerous product labels have been established to inform and convince consumers. However, as the backgrounds are complex, they are often confusing. With the "Climate Market" offer, the HSCG brought light into the darkness and entered into a playful dialog using the example of plant-based milk alternatives.
The employees of our research partnership LaNDER³ are looking at how we can produce and live with what nature provides in the future. At our second hands-on event, interested visitors were able to produce natural fiber-reinforced plastics themselves and learn more about this pioneering research.
