How to study in the unaffordable country!

The '15Grad-Ostblog' blogger Tobias Rieger made a stop at the HSZG yesterday.

Yesterday we had a visitor of a different kind. Stuttgart-based blogger Tobias Rieger visited us on his tour through the priceless land. Fascinated by the district of Görlitz, he is currently traveling through Upper Lusatia for his '15Grad-Ostblog' and stopping off at various locations.

During his meetings with entrepreneurs and committed people from the region, he wants to draw attention to the different work and life concepts that only exist here in our region. How do the people who live, laugh, work and work here? And what makes studying in the border triangle so special?

In conversation with the Rector of the university, Prof. Dr. Alexander Kratzsch, the blogger learned about the diversity of teaching and research at the HSZG and experienced the university's own research spirit up close during his visit to the Zittau power plant laboratory and the LaNDER³ hall.

Zittau power plant laboratory

The "Zittau Power Plant Laboratory" research project is a cross-faculty association of laboratory facilities for the investigation of power plant processes. The focus is on increasing energy efficiency and the use of renewable energies. At two locations in Zittau (Schliebenstraße 1 and Schwenninger Weg 1), three large-scale test facilities and several smaller test facilities are operated as part of research projects. In addition to research, teaching also benefits from this - in particular the "Energy and Environmental Technology" course and the "Automation and Mechatronics" course.

The large-scale project  "Zittau Power Plant Laboratory" is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)  and the Free State of Saxony.

LaNDER³ | Lusatian natural fiber composites: Decentralized energy, raw materials, resources, recycling

In the large-scale LaNDER³ project, the HSZG is working with non-university research institutions to develop concepts together with regional and international companies that reach far beyond the region. The aim is to economically break down natural fibres from regionally available biomass by recycling waste materials and process them into high-tech composite materials. This results in lightweight, resilient materials that are shaped in an energy-efficient manner, coated in a functional way and recycled after use.

LaNDER³ is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

He describes the discoveries he made during his visit to the HSZG and how impressed he is with THERESA ,   in his blog and in the following teaser video.

15Grad-OstBlog is part of the "Unbezahlbarland" image campaign of the district of Görlitz. The Entwicklungsgesellschaft Niederschlesische Oberlausitz mbH is implementing this image campaign as part of a project of the regional skilled labor alliance on behalf of the district of Görlitz.

In his blog, Tobias Rieger describes his goal of finding the priceless advantages of unaffordable land over life in the big city. We think that studying at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is definitely one of them.

We would like to thank Dipl-Ing. Torsten Klette from the Zittau power plant laboratory and the team from LaNDER³ (Dr. Ing. Rafael Cavalcante Cordeiro, Dipl.Ing. Anett Kupka, B.Sc. Lukas Knauth and M.A. Henriette Uhlig) for their support during the filming.
