At the question and answer session "Doctorate after UAS degree - is it possible?", interested parties can find out about doctoral opportunities at the dies academicus.
The rumor still circulates around the country that you supposedly can't write a doctoral thesis after graduating from a university of applied sciences. "That's not true," says Monique Ritter. Because she is currently doing her doctorate at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
How does that work? On Wednesday, June 7, 2023, Monique Ritter, MA and doctoral candidate, and Prof. Dr. Rudolf Schmitt will provide answers at a question and answer session on the topic of "Doctorate after graduating from a university of applied sciences" on the occasion of dies academicus.
The event aims to inform those interested in doing a doctorate after their Master's degree, but also to provide students from Bachelor's degree courses with information for later planning. From 2 p.m. to 3.30 p.m., they can ask their questions in the GI building , room 1.05.
"Prof. Schmitt and I would like to explicitly address interested women throughout the university and encourage and motivate people who see themselves as queer and BPoC or migrant to take part in the Q&A session," adds Monique Ritter.
Anyone who is curious and would like to ask specific questions should read the online encyclopedia article on doctorates in social work before the event. This forms the basis of the Q&A session.
Despite the title, it does not only apply to social work. All degree programs of the faculty are welcome and graduates of other faculties and universities are also cordially invited!
"Even though our background is in the social sciences, it shouldn't stop anyone from asking general questions about the doctoral process and getting a taste of the doctoral process," says Monique Ritter.
What was her motto at the beginning of her doctoral process? "I put my foot in the air and it carried." The doctoral candidate follows this saying by Hilde Domin.
Prof. Dr. Rudolf Schmitt is the faculty's doctoral supervisor responsible for the topic.
