Exploiting the potential of digitalization

On February 4, 2021, the first Zittau Plastics and Lightweight Construction Conference successfully took place completely online.

As a virtual conference and networking event organized by the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and the Fraunhofer Plastics Center Oberlausitz, the first Zittau Plastics and Lightweight Construction Conference offered a wide range of presentations on digitalization for SMEs in general and for the plastics and lightweight construction industry in particular. Six high-caliber speakers from science and industry gave a vivid insight into innovative plant systems and methods as well as best practice examples from successful companies in the industry.

The first Zittau Plastics and Lightweight Construction Conference took place as part of the EU project "DigiNetPolSax - Digitalization for the Common Economic Space". The project aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the Saxon-Polish border region by promoting cross-border cooperation and defining and making visible its economic competencies. It is co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund as part of the INTERREG Poland-Saxony 2014-2020 cooperation program.

Over 150 companies, interest groups, scientists and students from Saxony, Poland and the Czech Republic took part in the event online. In addition to the exciting, simultaneously translated presentations, participants at could look forward to an accompanying digital exhibition, an international cooperation exchange and individually designed virtual spaces for discovery and networking.
