HSZG professor appointed judge

Prof. Dr. Dr. Erik Hahn accepts a part-time position as a judge at the State Social Court (LSG).

Prof. Dr. Dr. Erik Hahn was appointed as a part-time judge at the State Social Court (LSG) by the Vice President of the Saxon State Social Court, VPräsLSG Dr. Kasten, on 18.11.2022. The Saxon LSG is the highest court of Saxony's social jurisdiction and acts as an appeal and complaint instance for the social courts in Dresden, Leipzig and Chemnitz. Its jurisdiction extends to public law disputes in the field of social law within the meaning of § 51 SGG.

The work of professors of law at higher courts has a long tradition and today primarily serves the professional exchange between science and practice. Prof. Hahn, who habilitated in April 2022 in the field of social law, is one of very few professors at a university of applied sciences in Germany to receive this honor. Before his first appointment as a professor in 2015, he had already worked as a judge at the Dresden Social Court. Prof. Erik Hahn is a permanent contributor to the BeckRS reference project on social law. His commentary on the appeal provisions (Sections 172 et seq. SGG) is currently published in beck-online.GROSSKOMMENTAR zum Sozialgerichtsgesetz. In addition to his work at the HSZG, he currently also holds an EU-funded Visiting Professorship for European Health and Social Law at Riga Stradins University (Latvia).
