At the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Institute for Transformation, Housing and Social Spatial Development (TRAWOS), subject to the provision of funds within the framework of the project funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) "Engagement constellations in rural areas ─ an East-West comparison (ENKOR)" probably from 01.07.2021 a position (20 hours/week) as

The joint research project ENKOR examines civic engagement in rural areas in East and West Germany from a comparative perspective. Ethnographic community studies and the citizen science method "Landinventur" will be used to record and analyze rural engagement. In local workshops, opportunities and challenges are discussed with citizens in a participatory manner and political recommendations for action are developed.

The job profile is particularly suitable for young professionals who have gained experience in qualitative social research as part of their studies and/or as a student or research assistant. The job holder will work on the following tasks in particular

• Data analysis on the economic and social structure of communities, mapping of local infrastructure as well as resident associations and initiatives and their composition at village level ("land inventory"),
• Preparation and implementation of ethnographic case studies in three communities in Lusatia with the involvement of students,
• Development and implementation of activating and participatory citizen science formats,
• Networking and professional cooperation with multipliers, scientists and representatives of local politics/administration,
• Collaboration in project organization, documentation and presentation as well as public relations,
• Collaboration in the preparation of reports, scientific publications and contributions to conferences and meetings.

The following knowledge and skills are required

• Completion of an academic Master's, Magister or Diplom degree in the field of social sciences (with a minimum grade of "good"),
• practical experience in the field of qualitative social research,
• at least a good knowledge of English.

In addition, the following are desirable

• ethnographic knowledge and research experience,
• experience in project management,
• driving license class 3.
