Extended Senate elects new Rector

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexander Kratzsch will be the new Rector of the HSZG from March 1, 2020.

Today, the Extended Senate of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences elected Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexander Kratzsch as Rector of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences for the term of office from March 1, 2020 to February 28, 2025. The election took place on the basis of an election proposal prepared by the University Council in consultation with the Senate on October 21, 2019 and submitted to the Extended Senate by the Chairwoman of the University Council, Prof. Dr.-Ing.

Ultimately, his constructive, determined and committed work at the university, but above all his work as Director of the Institute of Process Engineering, Process Automation and Metrology and his  convincing ideas and visions for the future of the university are likely to have contributed to his election. During his public introduction to the university, he assured the audience that he would continue the policy he had begun for the future of the university in all important areas. He sees the university's development plan and the target agreement with the Saxon State Ministry of Science and the Arts as the basis and guideline for his actions. His declared objectives also include further intensifying the university's impact in and for the region. This includes further improving the transfer of knowledge and technology and working even more closely with companies and non-university institutions in the region, districts and municipalities. He is also keen to improve communication within the university as a whole and between the two university locations. He would like to achieve this above all through even closer cooperation between the faculties of both university locations.
