The insight and event format Erzählsalon explores the question of whether storytelling can be used to shape change in Lusatia.
In cooperation with Rohnstock Biografien and the Hirschfelde Power Station Foundation, the TRAWOS Institute of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is organizing a storytelling salon followed by a discussion on the power of storytelling and its significance for Lusatia.
Time: Monday, May 30, 2022, 6:30 p.m.
Location: Art Goreliz bookshop and reading café, Weberstraße 9-10, 02826 Görlitz
In the first part of the event, people from Lusatia will talk about special experiences they have had in this region, with a focus on Görlitz, and what influence these have had on their lives. The focus is particularly on situations of change, characterized by dynamism, unpredictability and improvisation.
They have already confirmed their participation as storytellers:
Agnieszka Gąsior, Director of the Silesian Museum in Görlitz
Anja Nixdorf Munkwitz, Hirschfelde Foundation and "A basket full of happiness"
Axel Krüger, entrepreneur and spokesperson for the association "Kommunalpolitisches Netzwerk MOTOR Görlitz"
Prof. Bodo Lochmann, former university lecturer in Zittau, then rector of the DKU in Almaty, Kazakhstan
Christoph Scholze, first worked as deputy works council chairman at Siemens Görlitz, currently branch manager of Grantiro Initiative GmbH
Hannelore Klar, works for the employment office
Prof. Wilhelm Riesner, expert in the energy industry
The special location of the city of Görlitz and the similarities and differences in this respect on both the German and Polish sides provide the ideal basis for a fruitful exchange. Following the storytelling salon , the audience will discuss whether and how collective storytelling formats can help to promote participation, self-efficacy and creativity locally and initiate and support processes of social change.
Katrin Rohnstock, who developed the storytelling salon format 20 years ago, reports personally on its development process, the basic principles of implementation, modes of action and experiences based on practical examples, including from Lusatia. Prof. Raj Kollmorgen and his research team from the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Dr. Thomas Prennig and Emilia Socha, will report on how the storytelling salon can be classified from a scientific perspective. The project investigated the conversation format storytelling salon on behalf of the Federal Commissioner for East Germany and examined its transfer into a future regular instrument.
Anyone interested in oral storytelling, biography work or collective stories is cordially invited to this information evening. Admission is free of charge.
