The new center?

New anthology on the ideology and practice of the populist and extreme right published.

Together with Dr. Steven Schäller and Dr. Johannes Schütz from TU Dresden, Prof. Dr. Raj Kollmorgen recently published an anthology "Die neue Mitte?" on the ideology and practice of the populist and extreme right with Böhlau Verlag.

The anthology analyzes the diverse actors and forms of action of new-right movements. With a combination of academic essays, discussion contributions and practical reports, the volume highlights the specific characteristics of the new right-wing ideologies and movements. Four perspectives are developed: Firstly, the contributions deal with the ideological foundations of the new right, namely radical right and right-wing populist actors; secondly, the social contexts come into view; thirdly, radical right milieus, actors and (counter) strategies are examined; and fourthly, the function and significance of communicative processes and orientations are explored.

Die neue Mitte?' is not just an anthology for academics, but for anyone interested in politics and involved in the topic. Anyone who has read it will not only gain a better understanding of where right-wing extremism and right-wing populism come from, what forms they take today and what extremism and populism have in common (but also what separates them). Readers are also introduced to the living environments and everyday problems of the supporters of these ideologies and movements and familiarized with the challenges and opportunities of resistant democratic education, politics and civil society. Readers can learn how democrats - even in rural areas - can successfully take action against right-wing extremism and right-wing populism." Professor Raj Kollmorgen
