Exemplary scientific exchange at the HSZG

Once a year, scientists from the HSZG meet to present and discuss the so-called Landtag projects.

Once a year, scientists from the HSZG meet, organized by the Prorectorate for Research, to present the so-called Landtag projects (also: "SMWK projects").

This time, the varied and inspiring event took place on 21.06.17 from 16:00 to 18:30. It covered all the specialist pillars of the HSCG: engineers, social scientists and natural scientists presented their projects briefly and in a way that was largely understandable to the general public. What all the projects have in common is that they are financed from the research funding of Saxony's state universities of applied sciences, which is approved by the state parliament and allocated by the SMWK together with the SAB.

The interdisciplinary questions and discussions, which quickly brought to light methodological similarities or opportunities for cooperation, were particularly memorable.

Initially, four presentations were given, each of which, together with the discussion, lasted around 15 minutes.  They dealt with the identification of genetic causes of infertility in plants, the synthesis of special active ingredients that could become important for the pharmaceutical industry, the reduction of pollutant emissions from lignite-fired power plants and the social cushioning of challenges that arise in the lives of people with special disabilities.

Four further projects were then briefly presented and discussed on the basis of posters. The discussion on computer science in its role as a cross-sectional discipline in the natural and engineering sciences was particularly striking.
