During the coronavirus crisis, the economy was upside down at times: the nationalization of large corporations was suddenly the subject of public debate, as was the unconditional basic income or the call for economic stimulus packages to be linked to environmental requirements. The crisis has shown: The German, export-oriented economic system is extremely susceptible to global, external shocks. The tough measures taken by industrialized countries against their own economies in favour of health is a historically unprecedented phenomenon. The Citizens' Debate therefore aims to discuss where the trillion-euro rescue packages have suddenly come from and what the departure from the "black zero" will mean for us, our children and grandchildren in the future. The audience will have the opportunity to ask questions on the topic in advance at www.slpb.de/veranstaltungen/aus-der-krise-lernen. They will then discuss with the experts, among other things, whether and how a Lufthansa bailout worth billions is compatible with a climate-friendly transformation of the economic system or whether and how a state scrappage scheme for cars can be reconciled with the distribution of dividends to shareholders.
