Every year, the Information Center Umgebindehaus (IZU) holds a lecture evening on the Wednesday before the Day of the Open Umgebindehaus. The IZU of the Faculty of Economics and Industrial Engineering at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is a scientific point of contact for topics relating to the Umgebindehaus and is committed to preserving this regionally significant building style.
This year's lecture evening will take place on May 22, 2024 at 17:00 in room 5 in house ZII of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Schliebenstraße 21 in Zittau.
The term "sustainability" is old, but highly topical. For this reason, four lectures by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jens Bolsius, Dipl.-Ing. André Hennig, Dr.-Ing. Liane Vogel as well as Dipl.-Ing. Stefanie Kipke and Dipl.-Ing. Thomas Kipke will explore the question of whether Umgebindehäuser are really as sustainable as they are said to be. After a digital tour of a heritage-restored Umgebindehaus, the renovation measures carried out and their impact on the house's energy requirements will be explained. This is followed by an assessment of the house and the renovation measures based on current sustainability criteria.
Sustainability considerations must always extend to the use of the building, which is illustrated by a representative Umgebindehaus.
Interested parties are cordially invited. Participation is free of charge, there is no obligation to register.
The event will be held in German.
