She's coming back! Who is coming back? The BücherboXX in Zittau, of course.

What is a BücherboXX? A BücherboXX is a converted telephone box that is used to exchange books free of charge. According to the motto "Bring a book. Take a book. Read a book!"

people can swap old treasures as the mood takes them. It is also possible to bring or take only
books. There are no loan periods or opening hours, and no registration is required.

Zittau already had a book BoXX in 2018, which was intended to serve as a test to see whether the citizens of Zittau would like such a cultural exchange opportunity. This BoXX was also set up by social work students at the time. The response from Zittau was great. Many people wanted the BücherboXX back. That is why the project group is now tasked with setting up the BücherboXX permanently on Zittau's market square.

The students could not set up the BücherboXX in Zittau again,
because it was provided by INBAK (Institute for Education, Culture and Work) as a traveling BoXX
. The group also wanted to set up their own BücherboXX, individually tailored to Zittau.

Of course, this also involved converting a discarded telephone box into a BücherboXX. This was kindly undertaken by trainees from the Bla17 and BVB18 classes at the BSZ in Zittau, for painting and foil gluing work, and participants in the Motivation Workshop 2.0 at bao GmbH Zittau, for woodwork. KIA students (cooperative studies with integrated training) from the university were responsible for installing the electronics after the construction work on the Zittau campus was completed. They installed a ticker above the door. There is a solar cell on the roof of the BücherboXX, which provides the necessary power for the ticker and light. The pictures show the construction process.
