The study, commissioned by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, used focus groups, guided interviews and expert discussions with trade union officials (GEW, IG Metall) and members of state parliaments (SPD, Bündnis 90/Die Grünen) to examine the influence of political culture on female careers in East and West Germany. In line with the logic of the comparison, both regional and organizational differences were included.
The speaker Dr. Hanna Haag completed her doctorate at the University of Hamburg on the familial transmission of GDR-related orientations in East Germany. She is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at the TRAWOS Institute on the project "Transformations of working, social and living environments in the rural periphery - the case of Upper Lusatia".
