Hello students from grade 11

Do you like chemistry as a school subject? Then take part in our ONLINE lectures on interesting CHEMISTRY topics. Here you will be on the trail of scientific phenomena in an understandable way.

This will help you at school and may also pave the way for you to study natural and environmental sciences later on.

Content and focus of this online lecture:

The chemistry of natural fiber-reinforced plastics

  • What are natural fiber-reinforced plastics? Which natural fibers are suitable for their production? Where do they come from? What are they made of?
  • Guided by the vision of "living and producing at the industrial level of the 21st century with what nature provides - natural fibers, (bio)polymers, circular economy and renewable energies - this is where we see our future", employees of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences have been researching these materials in a research partnership for several years.
  • In addition to scientific content, which is presented in an understandable way, the role of chemistry from fiber production to recycling is illustrated using concrete examples.

Our lecturer Prof. Dr. Jens Weber is a lecturer and researcher at the HSZG with a focus on physical chemistry. He is Dean of the Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences.
