Would you like to play an active role in shaping the future of our university? Then this new module "CampusKompass: Committee work and university practice" is just right for you! This practice-oriented course was developed together with students who are already involved in committees and provides you with valuable knowledge and skills for your work on university committees.

The participants know:
  • current office holders
  • the Bologna Process
  • the organizational structures of the university and the most important structures beyond the university
  • the most important statutes and laws
  • current university policy issues and their development
  • rights and obligations
  • the most frequently used and helpful university tools
The participants are capable:
  • Assign topics, tasks and problems to the right body/office/person/law
  • Comply with laws and statutes
  • Correctly implement etiquette and behavior in the university context
  • To be able to use the most important tools in a basic way
The participants assess:
  • their own behavior in the university context (conduct, manners, compliance with obligations)
  • the development of university policy issues
Contents
  1. Understand organizational structures within and outside the university (organizational chart)
  2. Get to know laws, statutes and the Bologna Process
  3. Assign and solve everyday problems
  4. Discuss current university policy issues
  5. Work out rights and obligations
  6. Clarify the question: How do I write an email to the various committees?, How do I approach people personally?, What do I have to put up with?
  7. Introduction to the most important helpful tools

After successfully completing the CampusKompass module, you will be able to participate in university committees such as the student council. You will acquire in-depth knowledge of university policy and structures, financial administration and work organization. You will also develop skills in moderation, presentation, leadership, teamwork and conflict and knowledge management, which will not only strengthen you in committee work, but also in your personal development. Upon completion, you will receive a certificate of participation from Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.

Lecturer

Christoph Richter
Christoph Richter is co-founder and managing partner of PERSONARIS in Görlitz and Dresden. He works as a trainer, coach and mediator in the areas of personnel, team and organizational development as well as communication and conflict resolution. Dr. Kathy Meyer-Ross
Dr. Kathy Meyer-Ross is an expert in key competencies such as self-management, creativity techniques and intercultural communication. She also teaches basic knowledge of work organization, which focuses on efficient task and time management, as well as knowledge management, which deals with the systematic handling of knowledge transfer and storage within teams. Miriam Meyer, B.Sc.
Miriam Meyer is a Master's student in the 2nd semester of Integrated Management Systems at the Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences (F-N) at the HSCG. She is an elected member of the Student Council for Natural and Environmental Sciences and is a delegate to the Student Council. There she works actively in the departments of Finance, Mobility and Sustainability and Environmental Protection.

Max Scholz, B.Sc.
Max Scholz is a Master's student in the 3rd semester of Computer Science at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the HSZG. He is an elected member of the Student Council of Computer ScienceI and is a delegate to the Student Council. There he works as head of the organization department. In addition to the Student Council, Max was also active in the Faculty Council, the Study Commission at the Department of Computer Science and the extended Senate.
