34th Nature Conservation Volunteers Conference—Held for the First Time at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences

On Saturday, April 5, 2025, the Görlitz District, in cooperation with the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, invites you to the 34th Nature Conservation Conference. Under the theme “Promoting the Next Generation of Nature Conservation Volunteers,” the event offers a valuable opportunity for professional development and the exchange of experiences among nature conservation volunteers in the Görlitz district.

Event Program:

• 10:00 a.m. – Welcome remarks by representatives of the Görlitz district and Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences
• 10:10 a.m. – Information for volunteer nature conservation assistants
• 11:00 a.m. – Coffee break
• 11:15 a.m. – Presentation on “Young Nature Guardians of Saxony” to recruit new members (Elfi Kühnel, NSZ “Zittauer Gebirge”)
• 11:45 a.m. – Presentation: “Wild Bees in the Sandarium” (Kevin Josewski, Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences)
• 12:05 p.m. – Presentation on the Environmental Sciences degree program and opportunities for collaboration (Anke Zenker-Hoffmann, Prof. Oliver Wiche, Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences)
• 12:20 p.m. – Lunch
• 1:00 p.m. – Environmental Education and Education for Sustainable Development (Georg Salditt, IBZ St. Marienthal)
• 1:20 p.m. – Introduction to and preparation for the field trip to the Eichgraben Wetland (Mike Krüger, Andreas Jedzig)
• 1:45 p.m. – Wrap-up with coffee and cake
• 2:30 p.m. – Field trip to the Eichgraben Wetland

Travel Information:

• Public transportation: From Görlitz, take the RB65 toward Zittau; from Löbau, take the RE1 to Görlitz and transfer to the RB65 toward Zittau. It’s about a 17-minute walk from the train station to the university, or you can take a bus if needed.
• Carpooling: Participants traveling from a distance are asked to carpool. Information is available upon request.
