Good to know

Our master's degree program with a focus on quality, environmental, energy, occupational health and safety, and IT security management systems is so far unique in Germany! We attach great importance to a very practical education: You will have to prove your knowledge in project work in companies already during your studies. We make you fit for current tasks concerning management systems in companies, whether large or small, producing or providing services. Companies need well-trained specialists in this field.

You also want to go abroad during your studies? No problem, we have a double degree with ITMO University in St. Petersburg.

You work and want to study part-time? Then take advantage of our study option KIADirekt . This is a dual, part-time master's degree program in which your company and our university jointly train specialists and managers for their work in the field of management systems.

Today, hardly any company can manufacture and sell products without having proof of a certified quality management system. Depending on customer requirements, legal requirements or internal company objectives, further management systems, such as an environmental, occupational health and safety, IT security or energy management system, are added.

All management systems are characterized by the fact that they follow the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle (PDCA) and require, for example, regular status analyses in the form of audits and checks, planning of targets and measures based on these, and the designation of responsibilities.

On the other hand, management systems refer to different topics and tasks: Quality management systems primarily to the fulfillment of customer requirements, environmental and energy management systems primarily to an improvement of resource efficiency, occupational health and safety management systems primarily to occupational safety and health protection of employees.

Students of the master's program "Integrated Management Systems" deal with the requirements of quality, environmental, energy and occupational health and safety management systems and examine how companies can optimize their processes in these areas through integrated management systems. Related topics, such as accompanying project management, auditing of management systems or reporting on achieved results are considered in the same way as the environmental policy-legal framework and issues of technical environmental protection, especially energy technology.

Our high application orientation is not only given by a project-oriented theory-practice-transfer module, but also by dealing with software applications in project and material flow management and the teaching of soft skills on issues of learning and change processes in organizations.

What our students say

Kim Black
For some, it may be strange not to get lost in a mass of students, but for me it's great - I'm seen. If I'm absent, I get a message straight away - I'm someone here, one of the cogs in the machine, so to speak, and people count on me. Everyone is important here.
Kim Schwarz, Master's student Integrated Management Systems

I am glad to have chosen this degree course. It is characterized above all by the practice-oriented course content, which is deepened through cooperation with local companies. This gives you the chance to apply what you have learned in practice and prepares you optimally for starting your career. Excursions are offered on a regular basis, which are not only exciting from a technical point of view, but also promote cooperation between students and lecturers.
For me, the main reason for studying "Integrated Management Systems" is to deepen my specialist knowledge in the field of environmental, work and energy management systems. The course is an important building block in preparing me for my professional life. The Master's course develops interdisciplinary skills through a variety of modules. The uniqueness of the course in Germany is another reason why I applied.
