Studying mechanical engineering gives you an incredible amount of freedom - design, construct and build smartphones, cars or robots. Specialize in whatever you feel like. But admittedly - you won't get past math, mechanics, physics, economics and electrical engineering in the first 3 semesters. But with good time management and enthusiasm for the subject, that's no problem! Get creative and work together with your future fellow students on practical solutions in our excellently equipped laboratories.

In the Bachelor Mechanical Engineering program, you can choose between the regular Bachelor program or the KIA program.

What is KIA?

In the KIA variant (cooperative studies with integrated training), the bachelor 's program is very well suited for future students who want to combine theory and practice. In addition to theoretical knowledge, you will also receive practical training and at the end of your studies you will not only receive a Bachelor's degree, but also a certificate from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

  • Target group

    The Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is suitable for all first-year students who want to develop future-oriented technical solutions to drive innovation in industry, business and science. In addition to your passion for technical devices and systems, you should have manual skills, a good capacity for abstraction and a willingness to work in a group.

  • Contents

    You will acquire basic scientific and technical knowledge in the foundation course. In the specialist course, you will have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge in an application-oriented way and set your own work priorities. In addition to machine design, the spectrum you will encounter during your studies also includes the fundamentals of plastics technology, structural analysis, production and production measurement technology as well as machine testing, joining and assembly technology and surface and polymer materials technology.

    The KIA study form only differs from the Bachelor's degree course in the 2nd and 3rd semesters. You complete the part-time semesters 2.1 to 3.2 in a 4-week rhythm at alternating learning locations
    (university/company). At the end of this part of your studies, you will take the IHK examination and receive your first professional qualification.

  • Career prospects

    With a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, you have various options open to you. Join a national or international company straight after graduation or continue your studies in the Master's program to take up business and technical management positions or work in research and development. Typical areas of employment for our previous graduates include

    • Companies in mechanical and vehicle engineering, in food and beverage production, in textile and clothing production, companies in metal production
