As a graduate of the Bachelor's degree program in Applied Nursing Science, you will have a comprehensive application- and science-oriented skills profile for all target groups of professional nursing care. After completing the program, you will be able to assess highly complex care situations and develop appropriate solutions as well as implement high-quality care for all target groups in a wide variety of care settings. In addition, you will have extended medical skills in accordance with the Nursing Professions Act and the Nursing Studies Strengthening Act. This enables you to make a valuable contribution to the health and well-being of people in need of care. You can train relatives and team members and advise them on health issues and rehabilitative, activating care. You will already be working on small research projects during your studies and will therefore be able to actively participate in the further development of nursing care in a scientifically sound manner. After completing your studies, you can work in all areas of nursing, nationally and internationally, in acute care (hospital), long-term care (retirement home), outpatient care (social care center/home care) and in all other healthcare facilities.
With the perfect mix of theory and practice, you will be optimally prepared for your professional life. In the theoretical part, you will build up a foundation of knowledge in health and nursing sciences. The practical part of the course prepares you perfectly for professional life from the first semester onwards. In addition, you will practice what you have learned in theory, first under supervision and then independently in the
nursing simulation laboratory (Sim/SkillsLab) from the first semester onwards.
You will be supported and accompanied by your professors and lecturers as well as the practical instructors of our cooperation partners in nursing practice during all stages of your studies.

Two degrees:
With the Bachelor's degree course in Applied Nursing Science, you will obtain two degrees within 7 semesters (3.5 years): The academic degree "Bachelor of Science" as well as the state professional license as a nurse, nurse specialist or nursing specialist, which is valid throughout Europe. This also includes the reserved nursing task of practicing highly complex nursing and curative nursing activities defined by the legislator in the Nursing Professions Act from 01.01.2025.
The course is dual, so you will receive a training allowance for the entire duration of your studies, similar to vocational training at vocational schools for nursing. The prerequisite for this is that you first sign a training contract with one of our cooperation partners and then enrol at the university.
NEW: As a nurse with a vocational qualification, you can also study with us from October 2025 in a shortened form and parallel to your profession!

Interested students with a university entrance qualification should ideally apply to one of the cooperating companies one year before the start of their studies and conclude a training contract there.
Enrollment at the university takes place with the university entrance qualification and by submitting the training contract via our application portal.
Confirmation of enrollment must be submitted to the company in order for the training contract to become legally effective.
The course starts in the last week of September or the first week of October with the introductory week at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, followed by alternating semesters of study at the university and practical periods in various companies in outpatient and inpatient acute and long-term care.

The course is completed with a Bachelor's degree. The state examinations to obtain the professional title of "Pflegefachkraft", "Pflegefachfrau" or "Pflegefachmann" take place as part of module examinations spread over three semesters.

A major advantage of your nursing studies is the close integration of academic and practical qualifications. Your theoretical studies will be supplemented by training in the nursing simulation laboratory (Skills-/SimLab) and practical assignments with cooperation partners in outpatient and inpatient care.

The generalist degree program integrates the traditional professions of nursing, geriatric nursing and paediatric nursing. After graduating, you will be able to professionally and independently care for, treat, support and advise people at all stages of their lives. You will identify individual care needs and integrate other healthcare professionals.
In addition to basic scientific, nursing and personal skills, you will acquire skills for the development of new innovative nursing approaches.
Your degree program is the first in Saxony that has already been completely converted to the new legal situation. This means that you have clarity about the curriculum for your entire degree course at right from the start.

You don't need a specific numerus clausus (NC) to study nursing. There is also no strenuous selection process or waiting semester. Instead, we look forward to getting to know you personally. By studying nursing, you will acquire not just one, but two degrees: the Bachelor of Science in Applied Nursing Science and the Europe-wide state professional license as a nursing specialist in accordance with the Nursing Professions Act.
As a graduate, you will have a wide range of attractive job and career opportunities in science and nursing practice in Germany and abroad. For example, you can work as a nursing expert in hospitals, geriatric care facilities or outpatient services. There are also opportunities as a practice instructor, research assistant, independent nursing entrepreneur, scientist, consultant, wound manager, intensive care nurse, surgical nurse or diabetes consultant.
After completing your nursing degree, you also have the opportunity to gain further qualifications. For example, you can continue your training in areas such as intensive care or wound management. You also have the option of completing a Master's degree or pursuing a doctorate after your Master's degree.
The nursing degree therefore opens up a wide range of career opportunities and allows you to continuously develop and specialize.
The application period starts on May 2 and ends on July 15 for NC degree programs and on September 30 for admission-free degree programs (deadline has been extended).
