During his research semester, Prof. Sturm as Institute Director and Prof. Friedrich  as Deputy Director were able to intensify and expand their collaboration.

In June, the Institute Council elected Prof. Jens Friedrich as the new Institute Director and confirmed Prof. Martin Sturm as his deputy. Both will continue to lead ZIRKON in their usual teamwork.

The high teaching load and the associated low capacity to lead the institute are the main reasons that prompted Prof. Sturm to make the change. With his professional experience and the field of environmental and recycling technology, Prof. Friedrich has an excellent professional basis for leading ZIRKON.
