The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is seeking to fill a W2 professorship at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in the field of

Human-Computer Interaction
- reference number: EI-069 -

to be filled full-time.

The position includes the representation of the above-mentioned professorship in teaching and research, in particular with the following focal points:

  • Human-computer interaction
    • Programming the human-machine interface using various end devices and systems with multimodal interaction,
    • Software frameworks for implementing the human-machine interface,
    • Software solutions for special input/output devices, new interfaces, augmented reality/virtual reality, gesture recognition,
    • Physiological and psychological principles of human information processing with regard to interaction with technical systems,
    • Interaction with speech recognition, audio-visual design, haptic interaction possibilities as well as prototypes of interaction and their evaluation,
    • Interaction design, UX design, design guidelines such as material design for graphic design,
    • Continuous tracking and improvement of interaction,
    • Methods and applications in the field of Internet of Things and their user-oriented design.
  • Application context
    • Software solutions in implants, wearables, assistance and VR systems in care and rehabilitation,
    • Barrier-free interaction, user-centered design, implementation and evaluation,
    • Design of and interaction with IT systems, particularly in relation to medicine and care,
    • Consideration of the limits of audio-visual and haptic information acquisition for certain user groups in software development,
    • Software development and user-friendly application of domain-related robotic systems, such as care robotics,
    • Design of the link between the above-mentioned content and the field of computer engineering.

The professorship is intended to meet future requirements in the field of computer science, in particular human-computer interaction with reference to software systems and application orientation.

Teaching duties are to be carried out in lectures, seminars, exercises, practicals and projects as well as in continuing education in German and English. If necessary, courses related to the field of appointment must also be taken on, in particular in applications of computer science, e.g. in health management, social services or engineering.

In addition to teaching duties, a continuous commitment is required to carry out independent research and development tasks in the area of appointment or the above-mentioned key topics. Active participation in the internationalization of the university and the further development of the subject area is required. Tasks in the academic

self-administration are to be assumed. In addition, active participation in projects in the field of knowledge and technology transfer is expected.

Appointment requirements

The prerequisites for appointment are a completed academic university degree, a proven pedagogical aptitude in teaching or training, a special aptitude for academic work, which is usually demonstrated by a doctorate or adequate academic achievements, as well as special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods in a professional practice of usually five years, of which at least three years must have been spent outside the university sector.

We expect you to

  • the university-wide safeguarding of the range of courses,
  • if necessary, to take on courses in areas related to the field of appointment, in particular also in the applications of computer science, e.g. in health management, social services or engineering sciences
  • the continuous commitment to carry out independent research and development tasks in the field of appointment in addition to teaching duties,
  • active participation in the internationalization of the university and the further development of the subject area,
  • the assumption of tasks in academic self-administration and
  • active participation in knowledge and technology transfer projects.
