The Psychosocial Counseling Center team introduces itself. It offers professional help with stress, exam anxiety and personal crises.
On December 9, 2024, Romy Reinicke and Nancy Ludwig, who are in charge of the psychosocial counseling centers (PSB) of the Studentenwerk Dresden in Zittau and Görlitz, were guests at the work consultation of the Vice Rector for Education and International Affairs of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG), Professor Sophia Keil. The aim of the meeting was to present the PSB's comprehensive counseling services in person and in detail to the members of the counseling service and the student representatives invited for this purpose. This initiative underlines the relevance of an accessible and professional support structure for HSZG students.
The psychosocial counseling of the Studentenwerk Dresden is an indispensable part of our support services at the HSZG. It offers students in challenging situations a professional point of contact and helps them to cope with stress and find solutions.
The Vice-Rector for Education and International Affairs, Prof. Keil, commented on this meeting: "It was important to me to invite the representatives of the psychosocial counselling centres to my work consultation in order to emphasize the importance of this service and to ensure that all members of the university are informed about it and that the student representatives can express their wishes with regard to the further development of the services. Supporting our students is very important to us, not only professionally, but also in personal and difficult life situations."
Studying is an exciting but also challenging phase of life. There are many changes, especially at the beginning: Moving away from home, establishing a new social environment and settling into a new city and the academic world.
Many things happen for the first time during this phase. It is therefore normal that difficulties or crises can occur.
However, it is not only the start of a degree course that can be stressful, but also the further course or the end of a degree course. Typical challenges include work and concentration problems, exam nerves, writer's block, difficulties with graduation or conflicts in your personal environment.
Thoughts and feelings can be expressed and reorganized in a safe space. A conversation can help to find solutions and relief.
The psychosocial counseling centers of the Studentenwerk Dresden offer HSZG students professional support in the form of personal one-to-one sessions on site in Zittau and Görlitz.
In addition, there is the possibility to take advantage of counseling by telephone or video as well as at the PSB in Dresden. The sessions can take place as a one-off consultation or as part of a longer process. For the counseling relationship, it is recommended that the first appointment takes place in person. Counseling in English is also possible in Dresden.
The HSZG is committed to supporting its students in all life situations. The cooperation with the psychosocial counseling centers of the Studentenwerk Dresden is an important component in helping students cope with the challenges of studying and promoting their mental health. This commitment reflects the goal of creating a positive and success-oriented study atmosphere.
The Vice-Rector for Education and International Affairs, Professor Sophia Keil, thanks the Managing Director of Studentenwerk Dresden, Michael Rollberg, the Head of the Psychosocial Counseling Center, Dr. Sabine Stiehler, and the on-site counselors Romy Reinicke and Nancy Ludwig for their important commitment.
IMPORTANT! For a personal consultation, you must always register in advance (!) or contact us to arrange an appointment bye-mail. The request should include a brief description of the issue.
