Looking beyond the German horizon

Prof. Dr. Raj Kollmorgen was appointed to a working group of the German government to establish a "Future Center for European Transformation and German Unity".

On 17 March 2021, Prof. Dr. Raj Kollmorgen was appointed to a working group of the Federal Government by cabinet resolution to concretize recommendations for the establishment of a "Future Centre for European Transformation and German Unity".

In its final report published last December, the commission "30 Years of Peaceful Revolution and German Unity" made recommendations for action to the Federal Government. These are essentially aimed at further consolidating German unity and promoting social cohesion in Germany and Europe.

Experts from the fields of politics, science and culture were appointed to the working group set up to implement this project. This includes Prof. Dr. Raj Kollmorgen, Professor of Management of Social Change, Director of the Research Institute for Transformation, Housing and Social Spatial Development (TRAWOS) at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and Vice-Rector for Research at the university.

The working group, which includes Dr. Thomas de Maizière, Member of the German Bundestag and former Federal Minister, is to develop a concept for a "Future Center for European Transformation and German Unity" by mid-July.

According to the federal government's press release, the center could be a scientific institute, a center for dialogue, encounters and culture and contribute to an intensive examination of the transformation stories in the new federal states, Germany and Europe as well as their consequences for democracy and social cohesion.

More information on this topic can be found in the press release from the Press and Information Office of the Federal Government (BPA).
