Future learning location Oberlausitz: DLR_School_Lab of the HSZG takes shape
Extracurricular education is an important building block for regional structural development and securing skilled workers and an opportunity for successful structural change. At the same time, it is an opportunity to draw the attention of young people as potential students to the wide range of degree courses at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. The Vice-Rectorate for Education and International Affairs is striving to establish a regional future learning location in Upper Lusatia . The aim of the project "Future Learning Location Upper Lusatia" is in particular to provide diverse and innovative learning spaces in the extracurricular area with future-oriented offers focused on regional development.
As part of the close cooperation between the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG) and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Zittau, a first milestone has been reached here, as one of these extracurricular learning spaces is the Junior Academy, which will become the DLR_School_Lab of the HSZG.
The HSZG welcomed Dr. Christoph Pawek, Head of the DLR_School_Lab Berlin, to a meeting on site. He will support the university in setting up the local School_Lab with his expertise and many years of experience. Together with the Vice-Rector for Education and International Affairs, Professor Dr. Sophia Keil, the Chancellor of the university, Dipl.-Jur. Karin Hollstein and employees of the HSZG, the future cooperation was discussed intensively in a half-day workshop. The opportunity was also taken to take a tour of the DLR's new test hall in Zittau and exchange ideas with DLR employees.
The next step in this process is the signing of a cooperation agreement. The design of the rooms and the conception of the teaching and learning offers can begin immediately afterwards. The future topics will be developed together with teachers, pupils and representatives of research institutions and companies in the region to show how the future can be proactively shaped.
...will be an extracurricular learning location of the HSZG and the Institute forLow CO2 Industrial Processes of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Zittau. In the future, pupils of all grades will experimentally familiarize themselves with topics of aerospace, green engineering, nature and environmental protection as well as new technologies on 350m² of the Zittau Mandauhöfe.
